Twitter!! Bill Gates-Hate squad!!

Thursday, June 04, 2009

Twitter is my newest. Ahh!! Looking back, there was orkut and facebook!! Then came in blogger and its widgets; yet somehow in this tweetworld, NOW i feel like this what i wanted!! The latest in the bandwagon of expressing ourselves, and you know what? I LUV it!!

There is something else too: i was watching this video lecture from mit opencourseware (principles of digital communication I, introductory session), and the professor, a geriatric marvel who insists on his brand of humor (by the way, whats wrong with mit students; don’t they GET humor?? ) and is met with silence on the part of the students (SERIOUSLY!!), narrates the students the philosophical points of digital design, the importance of having a mental picture of the whole system- and he says something on the lines of “if you don’t have a clear vision of what you want... you get something like Microsoft Word!”. Now this was way back in 2003. Since then word 2007 came out and i still don’t like it. But it incorporates latex (in a very bill gatesy way – if you know what i mean! Equation Editor incorporates actual latex codes!!), and powerpoint 2007 is the only reason i care to have windows on my machine. Heres ode to big brother bill in two HUMORous quotes – the second ones by steve jobs at the Panther OSX unveiling, i saw that on youtube; the first one i don’t know!

"If Bill Gates had a dime for every time Windows crashed … Oh, wait a minute, he already does."

"The day Microsoft makes something that doesn't suck is the day they start making vacuum cleaners."

For lost souls, who want latex style, and are unsatisfied with lyx, although it is good; there is a TexMacs, on the lines of emacs incorporating TEX, i personally find it a better word processor, and instead of writing \alpha, you write a-tab!! But the shortcuts are a bit less intuitive than lyx.

I really crashed on my results this time, and studying is fun no more!

--on the really depressing note thus, signing out!!

Ps- humorous take on advice for programmers: Always code as if the guy who ends up maintaining your code will be a violent psychopath who knows where you live.
